Graphic Design Portfolio 2010

Description

This is a compilation of my Graphic Design Portfolio from Spring Semester 2010. The idea was to create a graphic identity for a make-believe company, store, etc of some sort. Mine was an Herbal Pharmacy called "Health by Design" and what their service is known for is that they are an herbal all nature-based pharmacy that mixes custom made herbal medications based on your body type and your illness and they get all their herbs from their own herbal garden in the back of the store.

Each page should be labeled as to what the things are. I made a logo, logotype, a slogan sort of thing or tagline, some symbols for the company, some imagery, and a couple applications for which these symbols and elements could be seen on or used for.

This was a semester long project by the way. There are many other parts to it I havent uploaded yet but i will upload them as a contact sheet like this one.

I was stuck between the two names "Health by Design" and "The Doctor's Garden" XD I really liked them both. My dad came up with the health by design one and my teacher said they both were reallyfitting but the health by design one is much more professional sounding and it relates back to mother natures idea of the golden ratio. The law in which makes so much nature perfect in its buildup and symmetry.

My slogans if you cant see them are "Medicine Perfected by Nature" and " Healing from the Roots Up". Four words I chose to describe my company are "Body, Mind, Soul, Health". This is similar to for example "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, Covergirl" XD

If any of these pages or elements on the pages are difficult to see, let me know in a comment and i'll post up seperate pages of the portfolio on deviantart.

The Logo for the Pharmacy is an Echinacea flower which has remarkable healing abilities and has been often used to make herbal teas. Native Americans were the first to know of the wonderful healing qualities of coneflower plants one of which is the Echinacea. They used it to remedy snakebites and cuts. They also used the root of the plant for toothaches and sore throats. This was one of the big herbs that the Europeans took great advantage of upon their arrival in the "new world". But today's world is very much like back then. Today scientists and botanists have studied the Echinacea's wonders and found that it has remarkable immune system rejuvenation abilities. Echinaceas inihibit and enzyme called Hyaluronidase. This helps maintain the natural barrier between healthy tissue and unwanted pathogens. It has also been shown that Echinacea flowers help raise white blood cell counts to help build a stronger immune system that can fight off a wide variety of pathogens, anything from viral infections, to bacterial and fungal infections. Its also great for tissue regeneration. A lab study in the 1970s also showed that echinacea extracts were inhibiting tumor growths in rats. Echinacea teas are great for fighting off and preventing flus and colds. Other studies show that topical echinacea creams has been used successfully to control psoriasis and eczema. Many of the active compounds in echinacea can be destroyed during processing. Freeze drying is the most effective way to preserve this herb's healing properties.

Thank you www.womens-health-symmetry.com for all the great info xD while i was doing this project! Yes this project actually did require research and alot of reference imagry for me to work off of.

These are absolutely gorgeous. They're simple and modern and fantastic design, and while I don't have the energy to read all of the information I definitely want to when I'm more conscious.

From what I see, you've put a lot of time, effort, and thought into this and it shows. I'm really excited about your graphic design work.

One that really stands out for me are the honeycomb works, right under the lavender. Especially the one on the right, it has a wonderful color pallet and this very warm feel to it.

I'm such a fan.
